Garbage/Recycling and Bulk Waste Collections

  • Trash/Recycle Carts can be placed curbside no earlier than noon, the day before pickup and must be curbside no later than 6 am the day of pick up.

  • Garbage is collected weekly on Thursdays and recycling is collected every other week on Thursdays. Please refer to the collection calendar for recycling pickup.

  • All homes west of 90th St (including homes on the west side of 90th St) will be collected on the blue shaded weeks

  • All homes east of 90th St (including homes on the east side of 90th St) will be collected on the non shaded weeks

  • Recycling is bi-weekly, please refer to the Garbage/Recycling Calendar for schedule.

  • If you require additional garbage or recycling cans or would like to request a smaller can, contact Johns at 262-473-4700 

          Additional Rates: Extra Garbage Cart-$96.00 per year ($8.00 per month)

                                         Extra Recycling Cart-$75.00 per year ($6.25 per month)

          Rates are pro-rated based on request date and billed to resident annually.

Curbside Bulk Collections

 

  • Bulk item collection is provided for items which do not fit in your carts and / or which cannot be disposed of in a landfill. Residents will receive up to one (1) bulk item collection per month at no additional charge.

  • Whole house clean outs will NOT be acceptable and subject to penalty, please rent a personal dumpster. 

  • The Village recycling center will no longer accept bulk waste.

Bulk Item Pickup Includes:
- Appliances (including Freon)
- Household furniture
- Construction material (contained in 32-gal or smaller containers)
- Motor oil, Antifreeze, car batteries
- Extra bags of trash
- Tires (2 per pickup, max 8 per year)
- Electronics (exchange a regular bulk pickup for the collection of one electronic item for up to two collections per year)
- Carpeting (4’ lengths, tied & bundled)

 

Bulk Items Not Included:
- Yard waste (brush, leaves, grass clippings)
- Concrete, dirt, rocks
- Loose construction material
- Commercial electronics
- Hazardous Waste
- Hot ashes
- Lithium ion batteries
- Household chemicals

Electronics Recycling

 

Electronics donation and recycling is a great way to help conserve resources and natural materials. It is important to make sure you are donating and/or recycling electronics safely and correctly. Below is a link from the EPA of places to recycle or donate used electronics, also there are some local electronic recyclers that can be found with a quick internet search. Johns Disposal also offers electronics recycling up to twice per year for a curbside pickup.

Hazardous Household Waste Collections

Who can use the Racine Hazardous Household Waste site?

 

Residents of the City of Racine, Village of Sturtevant, Village of Elmwood Park, Village of Mt. Pleasant, Village of Caledonia, Village of Wind Point, and Village of North Bay can use this facility, to safely dispose of their household hazardous waste. Residents need to provide proof of property ownership in these municipalities. Proof can be made with either a driver’s license or a property tax statement.

A program funded by the residents of the City of Racine, Village of Sturtevant, Village of Elmwood Park, Village of North Bay, Village of Wind Point, Village of Mt. Pleasant and Village of Caledonia.
